All sixth grade students are required to engage in a full year of intensive service activities, known as the Sixth grade year Of Service. (SOS) They conduct a six-week community needs assessment and each student, with the support of community mentors and ANSER staff, develops an action plan. Their projects vary according to a student’s interests and perceptions of community needs.
Past projects have included:
- Raising a seeing eye dog;
- Mentoring a refugee child;
- Collecting sporting equipment for migrant work camps.
